Soldier

This short, yet riveting, tale transports the reader to the days of Czarist Russia, when young Jewish boys were conscripted into the Czar`s army, for the sole purpose of tearing them away from their families and communities in an effort to make them renounce their faith.  The young hero, Samuel, endures unspeakable torture and cruelty at the hands of his captors but remains true to his heritage.

If there is one lesson to be learned from this classic narrative, it is that one should never underestimate the the depth of a child`s faith or the strength of a child`s character.
